Buncheong Ceramics
Please pay fees at the door.
This study group has been planned to coordinate with the Poetry in Clay: Korean Buncheong Ceramics from the Leeum, Samsung Museum of Art exhibition currently on view in our Korean galleries and previously shown at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. HJ Kim, the highly popular curator of our Korean galleries, has kindly consented to share her expertise and enthusiasm for Korea’s famed buncheong ceramics in an illustrated lecture during the morning session.
In the afternoon she will share with us some of the buncheong pieces in our own collection. Please join us for what promises to be a fascinating and highly instructive day.
Hyonjeong Kim Han is the Curator for Korean Art at the Asian Art Museum. She earned her BA and MA in Korean Art History at Seoul National University and a second MA from UC Santa Barbara where she is currently a doctoral candidate. Before coming to the Asian, HJ was curator and acting head of Korean and Chinese art at LACMA where she installed the new Korean galleries and was on the curators team of the contemporary Korean art exhibition “Your Bright Future.”
