Spiritual Mountains: The Art of Wesley Tongson
Please note that the time of this event has been changed from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the request of BAMPFA.
Advance registration is now closed.
Rosaline Kyo, who helped curate the exhibition, Spiritual Mountains, and Cynthia Tongson, the late artist’s sister, will guide us through an exploration of Wesley Tongson’s many phases of artistic experimentation. We will examine the many traditional aspects embedded in Tongson’s contemporary splashed ink and finger-painting innovations. Cynthia will provide insights into the artist’s life and studio practices.
Rosaline Kyo is an assistant professor of Art History & Chinese Studies at Davidson College. She was a curatorial consultant for this exhibition. She has led us on tours of previous exhibits at the Berkeley Art Museum.
Cynthia Tongson is the guardian and advocate for the legacy of Wesley Tongson. She serves on the Board of Trustees at the Chinese Culture Center and the Berkeley Art Museum.
