Scott Johnson is a historian of late antique literature and culture. He teaches a range of classes on Greek and classical culture, including a survey course on his field of specialty called "From Rome to Baghdad: The World of Late Antiquity." His research interests include multilingualism in the Christian east, Syriac language and literature, and the organization of knowledge in the ancient and medieval worlds. Dr. Johnson studied Classics at Vandebilt, received his D.Phil. in Classics from Oxford and currently holds a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship (2018-2019).

This Conversation precedes Dr. Johnson's Arts of Asia lecture on Silk Road Christianity from Syria to Xi'an.

Registration Policies

The Society for Asian Art's cancellation policy requires at least one week's advance written notice in order to receive a refund of registration fees. This excludes our Travel programs, which have separate cancellation policies, as well as any programs where a specific refund policy is stated on the event page. Your fees will be returned to you through a check in the mail. To cancel, please contact us.

For programs located within the Asian Art Museum, the museum entrance fee must be paid separately and is not included with your registration fee.
