Dr. Bose is a specialist in the visual cultures of early modern and contemporary South Asia. She received her Ph.D. in 2009 from UCLA and has spent several years in different parts of India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, studying languages, conducting research, and hiking in the Himalayas. She holds an interest in the arts of death and memorialization throughout Asia. Dr. Bose’s first book, Royal Umbrellas of Stone: Memory, Politics, and Public Identity in Rajput Funerary Art, published in 2015 examines funerary memorials commemorating members of the royal Hindu Rajput community in northern India.
This conversation follows Dr. Bose’s Arts of Asia lecture, The Arts of Death and the Afterlife in South Asian Traditions.

The Society for Asian Art's cancellation policy requires at least one week's advance written notice in order to receive a refund of registration fees. This excludes our Travel programs, which have separate cancellation policies, as well as any programs where a specific refund policy is stated on the event page. Your fees will be returned to you through a check in the mail. To cancel, please contact us.
For programs located within the Asian Art Museum, the museum entrance fee must be paid separately and is not included with your registration fee.
