Joanna Williams 1939 - 2022

We are sad to share news of the death of Joanna Williams, long time SAA Advisor and UC Berkeley Professor Emerita of South and Southeast Asian Art, on June 16, 2022.

Joanna was one of the most highly-regarded and foremost scholars of South and Southeast Asian art and architecture. She served on the Society’s Board of Advisors for over 20 years, during which time she delivered many distinguished and highly interesting lectures for the docent training programs. We will always be grateful to her for her generosity in sharing her knowledge and expertise with us.
